This is a closed 6-player round robin. No byes available. Game in 90 minutes 30 seconds/move. No entry fee. Alberta residents only. The winners of the 2025 Edmonton Junior Regional and Calgary Junior Regional will automatically qualify. The other four spots will be filled by players with the highest CFC rating between July 15 and Oct 15, 2025.  

Prize: 1st, 2nd and 3rd: Trophy - The winner of the Championship section is eligible for a travel grant provided by the ACA

Sunday Rounds 4-5: 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:30pm or ASAP



U1100CFC rated - NOTATION IS MANDATORY

6 round Swiss, Game in 30 minutes 30 seconds/move

Prize: 1st, 2nd and 3rd: Trophy

Saturday - Rounds 1-6: 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm or ASAP

Please ask your coach if you are not comfortable with notation. Help will be provided

Refunds will not be issued for no shows.

Restrictions:

- Only players who have solid knowledge of the chess rules should register. Note: two illegal moves will lead to loss of a game. The FIDE Laws of Chess can be found here: https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/E012023

- CFC ID is required when you register for this event. Please check out the CFC membership link to get an ID: https://www.chess.ca/en/players/membership-join/.

- Only Juniors born after January 1, 2006 are eligible.

- Notation is required

- No agreed upon draws until move 30

                  10:00am Tournament begins and the finishing time depends on the number of participants.

  1. Byes:
    • Up to 2 half-point byes are allowed for the first 3 rounds (requested in advance).
    • All other byes are scored as zero points.
    • A last-round bye counts as withdrawing from the event.
    • The byes policy can be at the discretion of the organizer, who has the right to decide and enforce their own rules regarding byes.\

  2. Bye Limit: The total number of byes cannot exceed 50% of the event's rounds.

Award ceremony: immediately after the completion of each section

We have limited volunteers onsite. Parents are solely responsible for the safety and security of the players in between rounds and after the tournament has completed. Also, we ask you please kindly notify the volunteers at the front desk if you decide to pick up your kids before all rounds are completed.
