Qualifier for Canadian Youth Chess Championships (July 19 to 22, 2023 in Calgary)

Players who earning half of the total points (e.g. 2.5 points out of 5 rounds) will be able to qualify for the event.

Please note that since the capacity of 60 players has been reached the registration for this competition is now closed.  Please send a message if you would like to be placed on the cancellation list. 

Start Time: 1:00PM on Sunday March 12. 

Venue:  Renert School at 14 Royal Vista Link NW, Calgary. The venue is in the portable building on the north side of the main building.

Schedule: 1:00 – 1:15  Registration/Check-In 

                 (Players who arrive after 1:15 will be paired for Round 2.)

                  1:30              5-round tournament begins

                 (Beginner, Novice and Intermediate Sections likely finish around 4:00; Open Section likely finishes around 5:00.)

Format: Players are placed in the following sections according to their ability

* Beginner

* Novice

* Intermediate

* Open

Prerequisite: 

Time Control:  20min 5sec

Prizes: Trophies for 1st and 2nd places in each section and Top Girls. Medal for 3rd place in each section. Other participants will be awarded a token.

Fees:  Annual Membership $10. Tournament Fee $15.

Discounts: $3 sibling discount and $7 discount for bringing a friend who is new to the club.
