2023 CANADIAN YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

CYCC Blitz Tournament

Registration: $20. 

• Only online registration is accepted.
  
• The seats are limited to 150 players.
• Registration closes at 8 pm on July 19th.

Tournament Time: July 20th 2023, 7:30 pm. 

Venue:  McKnight Room, Sheraton Cavalier Hotel

Sections: U12 and U18

Format: 7-round Swiss, 3' 2" incremental, CFC and FIDE Blitz Rated

Tournament Director: Sean Wu

Prizes: Trophyies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places of each section.

Tie-Break Procedures:

In case two or more players are tied for first place, the following tie-break procedure will apply:
1) Head to head result. This will only apply if all the players in a tied group played each other.
2) Tie-break match. If two players are tied, they will play a two-game match with the time control of game in 3' 2" incremental .
If more than two players are tied, they will play a round-robin tournament with the same time controls.

If the tie is still not broken, the procedure will be repeated;

Tie-breaks for all other places will be determined by the following criteria:

a) Buchholz (total scores of opponents)
b) Sonnenborn-Berger (total scores of opponents beaten plus half the scores of opponents drawn)
c) Most wins.

d) Most games with the black pieces.
