Championship Section: FIDE and CFC rated.

This is a closed 6-player round robin. No byes available. Game in 90 minutes 30 seconds/move. No entry fee. Alberta residents only. The winners of the 2023 Edmonton Junior Regional and Calgary Junior Regional will automatically qualify. The other four spots will be filled by players with the highest CFC rating between July 15 and Oct 15, 2023.  Players are eligible only by gaining a full participation point since the 2022 Alberta Junior Championship. 1 participation point is awarded for the Edmonton and Calgary Junior Regionals. All other ACA tournaments are worth a half point.All qualifiers must confirm their entry by October 25.

Prize: 1st place: $500 travel grant to 2024 Canadian Junior Championship and Trophy. 2nd  and 3rd: Trophy

- Only Juniors born after January 1, 2004 are eligible.

- Registration deadline: 10:00 PM on November 3rd. Onsite registration will NOT be permitted. 

- Unrated players are recommended to register in the U800 section.

- The final section assignment is determined by the Head TD based on the higher of regular and active ratings. Check your CFC rating at the link:

Entry Fee:  First child at $35, sibling at $32.

On-site check-in: 9:00 am – 9:30 am. Players who arrive after 9:30 am on November 4th will not be paired for round 1. 

Opening ceremony: 9:45 am – 9:55 am

Rounds 1-3 for Champion: 10:00am, 1:30pm, 5:00pm or ASAP

Rounds 1-3 for  Open: 10:00am, 1:30pm, 5:00pm or ASAP

Rounds 1-4 for U1300: 10:00am, 11:30pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm or ASAP

Rounds 1-4 for U800: 10:00am, 11:30pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm or ASAP
