This is a Canadian Youth Chess Championship Qualifier (July 6-10, 2025 in Ottawa, ON ). Players who earn half of their total points (e.g. 2.5 in 5 rounds) will qualify for the event. More info can be found at the link below:

For winners of Edmonton Youth and Calgary Youth (1st, 2nd and Top Girl), please send an email to chesscjcc@gmail.com to manually register for the corresponding section you played in. Please provide section to register as well as CFC ID and Date of Birth for section verification.
Refunds will not be issued for no shows.
Restrictions:
- Only players who have solid knowledge of the chess rules should register. Note: two illegal moves will lead to loss of a game. The FIDE Laws of Chess can be found here: https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/E012023

On-site checkin: 9:15 am – 9:45 am
Opening ceremony: 9:50 am – 10:00 am
Rounds 1-3: 10 am, 2 pm, 5 pm or ASAP
Sunday, April 26
Round 4-5: 10 am; ~1 pm or ASAP
Tie-Breaks: immediately after round 5
Award ceremony: immediately after the completion of each section
U-8 and U-10 groups may follow their own schedule.

Format:
- CFC. 5 round Swiss, Game in 90 minutes 30 seconds/move.

- Players must record all their moves. Assistance sheets will be provided upon request.

Prizes in each section
1st place: 1st place trophy - ACA travel grant of $500 to CYCC
2nd place: 2nd place trophy.
3rd place: 3rd place trophy.
Top girl in each section: trophy.

Room rate is $109 taxes for 02 adult 02 kids / room / night. Additional Adult guest will be charged 10 taxes extra. Rates do not include taxes/fees which are 6% Alberta Room Tax, and 5% GST. Rooms will be released to the general public on April 19th.”
NOTE:
We have limited volunteers onsite. Parents are solely responsible for the safety and security of the players in between rounds and after the tournament has completed. Also, we ask you please kindly notify the volunteers at the front desk if you decide to pick up your kids before all rounds are completed.
