This event will consist of one hour of instruction and 4 rounds of swiss rapid games. New members please complete registration throught step 1 to 3. Active members please go to step 3.

Registration Cap:  Maximum registration 60

The registration will be closed as soon as the cap is reached OR by 10:00 PM on March 9th, whichever comes sooner. On site registration is not premitted. If you are interested in attending after the registration closed, please contact chesscjcc@gmail.com. We will try our very best to accommodate. However, the spot is not guranteered.

Step 1: 

All participants must have a CFC (Canadian Chess Federation) ID. To find out the player's CFC ID number visit: https://www.chess.ca/en/ratings/ and enter your name.  If you never played official tournament chess in Canada, you will need to create a free account on the CFC website which will allow you to have a CFC number.  In order to join visit:  https://www.chess.ca/en/players/membership-join/

Step 2: 

Please make sure you have renewed your 2023-2024 membership or sign up to become a member via link:  https://www.calgaryjuniorchess.com/CJCC/Member/Member

Step 3: 

Click the "Register" button in the upper right corner to complete registration. The member ID on the next page is our membership ID/club ID (the number you requested in step 2). If you don't remember, search by Membership-membership-filter

Sections: Players are placed in the following sections according to their ability. Players are allowed to play up a section should you choose so. If there are not enough players in a section, TD may merge adjacent sections.

• Level 1 – Beginner (CFC 500 and under)
• Level 2 – Novice (CFC 501 – 800)
• Level 3 – Intermediate (CFC 801 – 1000)
• Level 4 – Open (CFC > 1000)

Schedule: Beginner and Intermediate Sections likely finish around 5:00 pm. Open Section likely finishes around 5:30.

• 1:15PM  One hour chess instruction starts
• 2:30PM  4-round tournament begins

Prizes: Top 3 players and top girl in each section will receive medals. All other participants will receive colorful chess keychains. 

Fees:  Annual Membership $10. Event Fee $15.

Discount: $3 sibling discount and $7 discount for bringing a friend who is new to the club.
